FUZZ SPOTLIGHT: KAYCEE BEATS
Updated: May 2, 2021
Kaycee hails from North Carolina & did us the honor of a little chat about her project, here's
what she had to say:
F: What was your a-ha moment when you realized you wanted to make your own music? K: I was about 13 years old. I was really into learning how to play covers of songs on YouTube on piano and my dad introduced me to recording software. At the time I started making my own music, originally gospel to encourage myself and my family. "I was really into learning how to play covers of songs on YouTube on piano and my dad introduced me to recording software." F: Awesome! Which program did you use? Was it fairly easy to get the hang of? K: I started off with Cubase. It was fairly easy to use but over time I got into GarageBand and now I use Logic Pro. F: Gotcha. Sounds like you really have it down, based on 'show me love'. Wanna talk about this track? The inspiration and writing process? K: ‘Show me love’ was based on a situation where you are talking to someone or interested in dating someone but you may feel unsure about how they truly feel about you. It was based on my own experiences in love as well as people that are close to me. I wrote it in 2019, on an ep series I’m working on called love sessions. It's on the first volume and one of my favorite tracks. "‘Show me love’ was based on a situation where you are talking to someone or interested in dating someone but you may feel unsure about how they truly feel about you." F: Definitely the right vibe for that all-too-familiar feeling. Well done. And you did everything yourself? Vocals, track, mixing? O: Thank you, and yes! F: Very impressive. Also, such a great skill to have during quarantine.. O: It has definitely come in handy. I've tried to create more since the quarantine to keep busy and to stay sane lol F: I see in your profile that you are part of a group called Oak City. What's the story there? K: Oak city is a hip hop/rnb collective that I'm apart of. I started it with my boyfriend and friends we went to school with in 2017. We are based in Raleigh, NC. F: Very Cool! What does this entail? Are you all collaborating on each other's tracks? Playing shows together? K: We have released some collaborations, and performed at open mics in the local area. Nothing too recent though, everybody is off at school or working but we still create together. F: Oh how we loooove collabs. That's awesome you were able to build a collective. Great support system to feed off of. So what brings you to FUZZ, what are you looking for? Anything specific? K: I want to connect with other artists and share my music for more exposure! F: Well....ya came to the right place! We'll keep an eye our for you, looking forward to seeing big things! You can connect with Kaycee Beats on FUZZ HERE! Listen on Soundcloud HERE!
