FUZZ SPOTLIGHT: J'pos
Atlanta Rapper J'pos joins the FUZZ music blog to talk musical upbringings in church choir and what he's looking for on the app. Read on!
F: What’s your earliest memory of getting into music? J: I’ve been into music my since I was 7 singing in the choir at church, recently within the past couple years is when I actually made a shift to start creating my own music.
F: Nice! What was the catalyst that made you shift? And specific event or just gradually happened?
J: Honestly it was a series of chronological events that really inspired me to make music.
F: Very cool. Church choir is an interesting place to start, did any of what you learned translate into how you make music today?
"...recently within the past couple years is when I actually made a shift to start creating my own music"
J: Honestly I can say church taught me all my basics fundamentals of music. I’ve learned things as simple as rhythm all the way to voice control and voice projection.
F: Awesome! Want to go into your track you have up? Recording process, meaning behind it? J: Honestly I made that right when I knew that I wanted to make music. It’s a mix of me talking about a female that I thought I was gonna marry but as you can hear, it was too good to be true. The hook is really me just feeling that right now is the right time for me to take this music serious. F: Ya that’s a pretty sweet hook. Did you make that beat as well? What program did you use to record?
"The hook is really me just feeling that right now is the right time for me to take this music serious."
J: Thanks man I appreciate that! No I did not make the beat and I just use bandlab right now until I find a producer that’s willing to work with me.
F: Oh nice! Ya the song came out great, sounds like the process has been working. So is that why you’re on the app? Looking for producers to work with?
J: I’m using FUZZ to find producers to work with as well as artists with the same taste to collaborate with.
F: Literally why we exist :) So as things let up, do you have plans for how you want to hit the ground running? & What’s the ultimate goal for you with music?
J: Haha I can’t think of answer for that right now 😥😥😥
F: I’m actually glad you said that. Kinda checking myself here as sometimes we just make music without a goal in mind. And that’s where a lot of the magic is made!
