FUZZ SPOTLIGHT: ELLA

Updated: May 13, 2021

Hailing from the Northwest, Ella gives us a look into her journey and aspirations for becoming a musician as she sets her eyes on a California adventure:

F: What got you into playing music, any early memories stick out as impactful?

E: I’ve been singing since I was very young. I don’t remember the exact age but I just remember always having a love for music. My dad is also somewhat of a musician you could say. He sings, plays the guitar, and piano

I personally sing, songwrite, and play the piano and guitar.

F: Awesome! Ya I'm sure having a musician parent helps fuel the fire a bit hahah. Was your dad's music an influence on yours, or any other artists stick out that you influenced your sound today?

E: He was definitely one but I have many female and male artists that I look up to. My music taste has definitely evolved throughout the years. I try to have an eclectic taste in music. I like experimenting with different genres.

"I have a lot of musicians I look up to and seeing that they never gave up on their dream even though they weren’t at the best financial or stable point in their life is so inspiring."

F: Can definitely tell from your track. It's got a cool mix of folk/grunge that fit nicely together, well done! Wanna go into the backstory of 'From the Stalls' for the readers?

E: Yes, I love folk and a lot of different genres. 'From the Stalls' is actually a cover from Angus & Julia Stone. I have my own originals but am hesitant on sharing them since I haven’t had them copyrighted yet. That song is absolutely one of my favorites by that talented duo.

F: Ahh, fair enough! Can you talk about your thought process on copyrighting? It’s definitely an important aspect for young musicians, I’m sure readers would enjoy your thoughts in general on the matter. Just what you’re afraid of, what you want to accomplish with copyrighting, and how you’ll go about it? (If you’re open to it!)

E: Definitely!! After I move out back to California soon hopefully I plan on seriously pursuing my music career. I do plan on connecting with people and finding a producer that fits with the kind of styles I’m trying to work with.

As a songwriter/artist I know the music industry can be sketchy at times. I’ve heard stories of people stealing other people’s work which is why I want to be careful with my original content.

"...music has always been the one thing that I’ve always been passionate about. It has gotten me through so much in life. ."

F: Smart! Never too soon to start owning your tracks! Alright, time for a curveball: Why haven’t you given up on music? What keeps you motivated?

E: Yes, music has always been the one thing that I’ve always been passionate about. It has gotten me through so much in life. Whenever I’m going through dark times and experiences I’m glad I’m able to channel my feelings through songwriting and creating these songs

In the past I would livestream on Periscope which unfortunately just discontinued. Seeing people’s comments and hearing how my original songs make them feel makes me very happy. I have a lot of musicians I look up to and seeing that they never gave up on their dream even though they weren’t at the best financial or stable point in their life is so inspiring.

F: Great answer, ya music speaks a different language between people, very powerful.

So what brings you to the app? Are you looking for anything specific?

E: Yes so true! It would be cool to collaborate with other musicians. I’m hoping to find a producer sometime in the near future.

F: Well to that we say, ‘you came to the right place!’
