FUZZ SPOTLIGHT: Anton Ioffe
Anton gives us an unbridled grimey/grungey slash-rock we've been yearning for in an age dominated by dominated digital & polished sounds. The deep fuzz tone of his guitars paired with the trash-can drums hit your bones with each track of his band, The Heaven Hovels, latest album, 'I'm Wandering'. Layer on his belting vocals and you have a cocktail, of the Molotov variety. Ladies & Gentlemen, Anton Ioffe:
A: I was 11 y.o. when my grandma bought me a guitar and started paying my first guitar teacher:) The teacher was a good and poor person who showed me what the honest music is.

F: Wow, Thanks Grandma! And what was this honest music you were introduced to?
A: Any notes with his dirty nails and concentrated mind.
F: Haha, some great imagery there. So what brings you to FUZZ, are you looking for anything in particular?
A: I’m looking for musicians for my many riffs and songs. I hope to find them here because I don’t like dirty nails 🤷🏼♂️
F: Well luckily I think we have both clean and dirty-nailed musicians on here!
Can we talk about your track 'Lies'? I want that guitar tone. Are the Heaven Hovels a band you were in?
A: Cool. I like your platform, thank you for that. Yes, sure. I wrote this song in 2015 when I used some of drugs with my girlfriend. I'd be very much in love with her but I couldn’t give her as much love as she deserved. The Heaven Hovels is the band without constant line up. Its story began in 2014 and continues for today but I came up with this name when I thought of a name for the demo album ‘Im Wandering’. I hope I can find the right musicians in London and we'll come up with a new name. or keep the old one. I don't care anymore... I just want to make good rock music. That's impossible for me in Russia.

F: oh wow, plot twist! Are you from Russia originally? What's the difference between the Russian and UK music scenes?
A: Yes, I'm from Russia and I'm here now. I don't know the difference because I can't move to the UK. Recently I got a contract with a one model agency in London but we haven't been decide the issue of my travel. I hope we can resolve it just because yesterday I got a job as a gardener in the central park in Moscow... But actually I like it, I have a lot of time with great composers as Ludwig van Beethoven, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Antonio Vivaldi. Genius people.
F: Park gardens and classical music...that sounds really pleasant actually, I agree.
So are you playing music in Russia at all? What’s the status over there?
A: Yeah, I gathered a band here for live shows because and maybe record because I can’t just sit around.
F: That’s awesome you have a live band going right now. Gotta keep scratching the itch somehow, I know the feeling. Are live shows happening a lot where you are? How are people receiving the experience of things opening back up? A: Yeah, there are so many lives and other interesting things. I don't know about people's reactions because I have little contact with them, I'm busy with my career. P.s. I’m not gathering a band for lives here anymore, that was a mistake. I wish all readers not to ignore their mistakes and reckon with the time it takes to reach your goal. F: That's some real wisdom right there. Much appreciated. 🙏 Do you plan to continue making music on your own? Or pivoting to focus solely on your career?
A: No I’m looking for musicians to create together. This is my career. F: Epic. That's the spirit!! We'll keep an eye out for you and your sweet shreds as your journey continues!
